Has the US become too big?
Look at other countries of similar or larger size. China and India are the only ones who come to mind. And both have horrible infrastructures. Socialism has failed them, but so has democracy. Both of those countries have a ruling elite and horrible poverty.
Is the new question does democracy fail at a certain size? Can you become too big and diverse for democracy to be effective?
China has had to resort to domestic military enforcement on more than one occasion. And India has fought internal wars for decades.
Is the answer that someday the US will have to divide and break up? And can that be done peacefully? Or will a civil war be required?
